Practice Areas

Cases we accept.

The law that protects you depends on where and how you were hurt — highway, refinery, rig, or open water. Getting that right is often the difference between full value and a fraction of it.

Maritime
Injury Law

Hurt working on the water? Ordinary state injury law may not be what protects you. Jones Act, maintenance and cure, and unseaworthiness claims for seamen and offshore workers — from tugboat crews to the mariners of the Maersk Alabama.

Wrongful
Death

Lost someone to another's negligence? Texas wrongful death and survival claims have their own rules about who can file, what a family can recover, and when. We handle these cases the way they deserve — built for the courtroom from day one.

Truck
Accidents

Hit by an 18-wheeler or commercial vehicle? Trucking companies put rapid-response teams on a crash within hours. The clock matters: preservation letters go out immediately for the dashcam video, telematics, driver logs, and cell phone records most firms never find.

Hurt in the oilfield? Drilling rig, well site, and pipeline accidents across Texas turn on a question most lawyers miss — whether your case belongs onshore or offshore. The answer can change what your case is worth.

Personal Injury

Traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and burns change the rest of a life. We build these cases around what that life now requires — the medicine, the care plan, and the future a jury needs to see.

Our Approach

Right Now, the Company Is Building Its Side of the Story.

The dashcam video, the incident reports, the maintenance records, the witness statements — the evidence that decides your case sits in the company's hands, and it starts disappearing the day you're hurt. Every day you wait, their version hardens and yours gets harder to prove. One call to our office starts protecting your future today, and it costs you nothing.

Why VB Attorneys
Our Method

How we prepare your case.

Most cases settle. The number they settle at depends on whether the other side believes your case is ready for a courtroom. Ours always are.

1. Your lawyer leads your case.

The lawyer you hire is the lawyer who leads your case — an experienced trial lawyer, supported by a Board Certified partner — and you can talk to your lawyer directly.

2. We find the evidence.

Vessel logs, maintenance records, electronic driving data, witness statements, company emails. We dig until the other side's own documents tell the story.

3. We build it for court.

Experts retained early. Depositions taken to lock in testimony. Every claim traced to the defendant's own witnesses and records.

4. You decide.

When the offer comes — and it usually does — you'll know exactly what your case is worth and exactly what going to court means. We give you our best advice; the decision to accept a settlement or go to trial is always, and only, yours.

Quick Answers

Straight answers.

The questions people ask before they call — answered the way we'd answer on the phone.

What kinds of cases does VB Attorneys accept?

A deliberately limited number of serious cases: maritime and Jones Act injuries, wrongful death, truck and transportation accidents, oilfield injuries, industrial explosions, and catastrophic personal injury — in Texas and nationwide, from our Houston office.

How much does it cost to hire VB Attorneys?

Nothing up front. We work on contingency: you pay no fee unless we recover for you, and the case review is free.

What happens when I call?

A real person listens. You tell us what happened, in your own words. We tell you honestly whether your case is one we can take — and if it isn't, we'll point you toward someone who can help.

Do I have a Jones Act case?

If you work aboard a vessel — tugs, barges, supply boats, drilling rigs, tankers — and were injured because of negligence or an unseaworthy vessel, the Jones Act may entitle you to damages well beyond maintenance and cure. Call and we'll give you a straight answer.

How long do I have to file an injury claim in Texas?

Most Texas personal injury and wrongful death claims must be filed within two years. Jones Act and general maritime claims generally allow three. Some deadlines are shorter — and the evidence disappears far faster than any deadline runs.

Does VB Attorneys handle cases outside Texas?

Yes. Maritime and Jones Act cases arise wherever the vessel is — the Gulf of Mexico, inland waters, ports around the world — and we represent injured workers and families across Texas and nationwide.
