Robert was driving his Mustang on Telephone Road in Houston, Texas. He stopped for a red light at the intersection with Morley Road. He was hit from behind by an over-sized commercial wrecker. The wrecker driver had insurance with Universal Casualty Company.Robert primarily hurt his low back in the crash with the wrecker. He had physical therapy, injections, and diagnostic testing. He was diagnosed with a herniated disc in his back, for which he had back surgery. The back surgery left him with permanent, disabling pain. He couldn’t function the way he used to and the pain limited his life. Now he had mounting medical bills and was facing life-long pain.Robert made a claim with the wrecker driver’s insurance company, but they denied it. After his claim was denied, Robert hired our firm to help him get the compensation he deserved.

We filed Robert’s case in Harris County, Texas, and worked it up. Through depositions and discovery, it was determined that the wrecker driver chose not to watch where he was driving.

A mediation took place the week before trial. The insurance company offered a very low amount of money to settle. Robert rejected the offer.

We took the case to trial. The trial started. During the second day of trial, we negotiated a settlement which was fourteen times the amount of the insurance company’s mediation offer.

$210,000 Settlement
